Michael R. Mele AIA, RRC
Mr. Mele received his professional
education at the University of Oklahoma, earning a Bachelor of
Architecture degree in 1968. He has subsequently earned masters degrees
in Business Administration and Real Estate Management from National
University in San Diego.
Mr. Mele worked for a major New
York City architectural firm from 1972 to 1976. As a project architect
he was responsible for projects ranging from branch banks, through
European American Bank's world headquarters, to a 5,000 unit modular
housing project in the Middle East. After relocating to California in
1976, Mr. Mele worked for a large San Diego architectural firm where he
was responsible for a number of office and retail commercial projects.
In 1980, Mr. Mele entered the
private practice of architecture. Since then, clients have included
seven agencies of the federal government, the State of California, the
City and County of San Diego, the City of El Cajon, San Diego City
Schools, Grossmont Union High School District, several national trucking
companies, Wells Fargo Bank, numerous local building owners and
developers, and several homeowner's associations.
Mr. Mele is one of only about
twenty Registered Roof Consultants in the state. He qualified for the
title by completing a rigorous two-part program consisting of education
and experience, and successfully completing an eight-hour examination.
The Registered Roof Consultant program is the preferred standard of
practice among consultants.
Mr. Mele is active in both
community groups and professional organizations. He is a past member of
San Diego's Citizen's Advisory Committee on Growth and Development and
is a past president of the Tierrasanta Community Council. He is also an
active member of the San Diego Chapter of the American Institute of
Architects, the Roof Consultants Institute, and the Tehnology and
Maintenance Council of the American Trucking Associations.
Mr. Mele is licensed to practice
architecture in California, Arizona, New York, and Wisconsin, and is
certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
Dean Amantea AIA
Mr. Amantea earned a Bachelor of
Science degree in Architecture from the University of Cincinnati in
1967. He is licensed to practice architecture in both California and
Arizona.
Mr. Amantea worked for various
architectural firms in the San Diego area from 1970 until 1986, when he
associated with Michael R. Mele. During that time he has been
responsible for projects ranging from small remodels to multi-million
dollar commercial and industrial projects. The larger projects have
included schools and training facilities, vehicle maintenance
facilities, office buildings, retail commercial shopping centers,
financial institutions, single family housing tracts, light industrial
complexes, post offices, hospitals, research laboratories,
telecommunication projects, commercial and residential land use studies
and master plans, and historical renovation.
While a Lieutenant in the U.S.
Navy Civil Engineer Corps, Mr. Amantea served as Officer-In-Charge of
Construction of military air support facilities, officers’ quarters,
galleys, barracks, civic centers, and administration buildings. He has
since had extensive experience as construction contract administrator on
all types of projects.
Mr. Amantea was presented an Award
of Honor by the San Diego Chapter of the American Institute of
Architects for his work on historical preservation in the downtown San
Diego area. He is an active member of the American Institute of
Architects and the Roof Consultants Institute.
